Message from the Public Governor for Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust,
I have been in this role for the past five years.
In this time it has become evident that the residents of all Dover districts do not readily participate in the numerous opportunities to help shape the NHS. One example of how public input can influence what happens was the fact that Dover and Deal received the vaccine rollout eight weeks after many other parts of Kent and even then the elderly and infirm were expected to travel up to twelve miles. Public pressure was actioned and additional vaccine outlets in Deal and Dover were opened.
In my own experience the ‘you said we did’ ethos exists in KCHFT and every opportunity to improve quality and coproduce new processes with the public are taken.
I would encourage anyone 16 and over to participate. If you are interested please follow the link below or contact:

The People’s Network
The KCHFT People’s Network is open to anyone who has used our services, their carers, our Trust members and volunteers.
By joining the network you will have a real opportunity to make a difference; from being involved in one of our many patient and carer engagement groups, sitting on our interview panels, getting involved in co designing or delivering training, or working directly with our services by becoming an expert by experience.
The People’s Network also hold regular “keeping in touch” meetings, where members can meet, talk about the things they are involved in and receive information from us, our stakeholders and partner organisations.
If you’d like to join the People’s Network, you can contact us with the details at the bottom of this page.
Don’t want to get too involved just yet? You can become a public member and receive regular information from us, including our quarterly magazine, Community Health, and you’ll also be eligible for NHS discounts.
