Following a number of incidents on the Recreation Ground we thought it worthwhile to thank those public spirited people who have taken the time to report them to the Parish Clerk. This is most helpful, so thank you!

To respond to various comments posted on the use of the CCTV system, once we are aware of any incident or damage on the Recreation Ground, the CCTV recordings are reviewed by an Authorised person and, if located,  the recordings and images are passed on to the Police / PCSO for investigation and action as appropriate.

The images are of good enough quality to identify the persons involved, but unfortunately the Police can only take action if they know the persons involved and can put names to the faces.

The CCTV recordings are encrypted and securely stored; Recordings are not routinely monitored and not used for covert monitoring; Recordings and images cannot be publicly published to aid identification;

The Recreation Ground CCTV system and its operation is intended to provide a safe and secure environment for the benefit of those who use the Recreation Ground and its facilities. The system will not be used to invade the privacy of any individual, except when carried out in accordance with the law.

The system is used; to reduce the fear of crime, harm, and harassment for all persons using the Recreation Ground; to reduce occurrences of damage and vandalism of property and to prevent, deter and detect crime and disorder; and to assist the Parish Council, the Police, and other Law Enforcement Agencies with identification, detection, apprehension and prosecution of offenders by examining and using retrievable evidence relating to crime, public order or contravention of bye-laws.
